Spectrophotometers Need Love Too
Valentine’s Day is right around the corner and while
everyone is busy figuring out how to best to dote on their loved ones, hardly
anyone thinks of their poor unloved spectrophotometer.
Day in and day out, who’s
going to be there to measure the absorbance of samples at whichever wavelengths
you ask of her?
Spectrophotometer!
Who’s going to make sure the measurement of the reduction in intensity the beam of light
shining through is dead accurate?
Spectrophotometer!
Who is going to
check the concentration in your sample thus ensuring quality control? You
guessed it…
Spectrophotometer!
But who makes
sure Spectrophotometer’s needs are being met? Hopefully, on a regular basis,
you’re pampering her calibration wants and needs. Thanks to regular wear and tear and a bit of
dirt and dust, many Spectrophotometers are not giving you the accuracy you
seek. For many labs, regulations ensure
the periodic testing and calibration of Spectrophotometers. For others, what are you waiting for?
Wavelength and
photometric accuracy, resolution, and stray light should all be verified to be
certain your Spectrophotometer is performing in the most functional way
possible. BaneBio can pamper your meter
with a full operational check and cleaning.
If she’s ready for retirement, we have an array of slightly loved yet
fully functional replacements.
Give your
Spectrophotometer some love and she’ll reward you with the accuracy you desire!

Independent Study Blickenstaff: BaneBio - BioBeers at FITC
BioBeers is a biotech industry even in which scientists as well as equipment providers in the Frederick area gather to discuss projects and progress. This event was held on 1/27/17 at FITC and was co-sponsored by BaneBio and RoosterBio. The beer was from Barley and Hops.
My internship site, BaneBio, was very happy with the images and most were uploaded to their Facebook page.
Portraits, Shields
I have known Shelby since her overnight at Hood. We actually grew up about 10 minutes away from each other in Pennsylvania but we never met until college.
This represents Shelby's bad-ass-ness. She's a tough girl that plays catcher for Hood's softball team.
Softball has always been a part of Shelby's life. Her father has always been her coach throughout her life, including during her high school years when they won a State Championship together.
I got this idea off of Pinterest, but the black and white gives it a really nice effect. I also really like how you can see the Alabama "A" logo from her bracelet which is where her new home is.
I thought this would be a cool picture that eludes to the monkey emoji. Shelby's personality is fun and playful so this worked well.

This picture was taken on the dirt road beside my house. We have made many memories on this road. When we were younger we would take walks with our moms almost every week up and down the lane.

Katie regularly practices Yoga. It is one of her passions and for years she has been trying to get me to practice and every now and then she succeeds and it always makes her very happy.

Christie is a classmate at Hood College. Her favorite thing to do is go to Dunkin Donuts between classes.
