Naked Ladies Virtual Event:
-A seminar by April Jehan Morris.
-The guerilla girls are a group of feminist activist.
-Most women showed in galleries or museums are nude (western art, in the MET. gallery specifically).
-Women questioned who the intended audience was for these nude portraits (for men?).
-Women were obviously sexualized within the paintings for men to "gape" at. Art of naked women by men had no consent or input from women as to how they were portrayed.
-Marketing ads used naked women (see Samsung laptop photo) for profit, presented women as mere objects to sell.
Trans Awareness Day:
-Event hosted by Queer Student Union and presented by Simone Kolysh
-Explanation of gender such as cis-gender, transgender and non-binary
-Explained how sexism, racism, poverty, and other factors additionally impacted people who were queer and supplemented the hardships these individuals already had for simply being queer
-Healthcare presented problems for queer people as gatekeepers, like doctors, dictate gender and trans identity and whether these people can get approved healthcare
