Event, Woodward

Sonia Sanchez, a guest at Hood College's Martin Luther King Day event, performs a sample of her work on January 18, 2016 in Rosenstock Hall. Sanchez is a poet, author, and spoken-word performer.

Andrea Chapdelaine, president of Hood College, signing letters during the College's Martin Luther King Jr. Day event on January 18, 2016. The "Write for Rights" event, created by Amnesty International, sends these letters annually to petition governments on behalf of international human rights violations.

Students gather for the "East Meets West Fire Ceremony", the final event in Hood College's Martin Luther King Day on January 18, 2016. A combination between Yoko Ono's "wishing tree" installations and Native American traditions of ceremonial burnings, students burn wishes, hopes, and prayers written on paper leaves.
