City as Text: Arts in Baltimore, LaForce

04.12.19 City as Text "Arts in Baltimore: Influence and Power"

As part of the 2019 Northeast Regional Honors Council Conference, students and advisors are invited to participate in a City as Text event. These tours are designed as on-going laboratories through which small teams investigate contested areas and issues in urban environments, fostering critical inquiry and integrative learning across disciplines.

The “Arts in Baltimore: Influence and Power” City as Text strand included a visit to the Walters Art Museum in Baltimore, MD. A student snaps a photograph of a bust in the Sculpture Court/European Art section of the Walters.

The facade of the Visionary Art Museum located in Baltimore, Maryland's Federal Hill neighborhood on the South shore of the Inner Harbor. The museum specializes in "outsider art" which is art by self-taught or naïve art makers, making it a collection of unique, eclectic pieces.
