Newseum Alternative - Crab Feast 2019, Buford

Ms. Lisa, a dining hall staff member, greets students, friends, families and faculty as they enter Coblentz Dining Hall ready for crab at Hood's annual Crab Feast on Friday, April 26, 2019.

Hood College's 2019 Crab Feast kicked off on Friday, April 26 in the Coblentz Dining Hall. Students, friends and family enjoyed all-you-can-eat crab, shrimp, fried chicken, corn on the cob, pie, and a myriad of other treats.

Dean of Students Olivia White socializes with senior student Malik Johnson and his family at the Crab Feast on April 26. For Malik, this is the last Crab Feast of his college career.

Hood president Andrea Chapdelaine takes a turn in the buffet line on Friday, April 26. One of the last to grab a plate, President Chapdelaine spent most of the afternoon in the kitchen serving the crab to students and their families.

Students Allie Backos and Greg Roddy, ice cream in hand, head to class after leaving the feast on April 26. Despite the festivities and perfect weather, classes and responsibilities carry on as usual.

After a full meal of seafood, sides, and dessert, Norrin Frazier, 13, enjoys an ice cream cone outside of Coblentz. This was Norrin's first and last time ever attending the annual Hood event.

The Aftermath: Crab shells, bones, and other trash is piled onto a tray in the center of each table in the Dining Hall. Every so often, a student volunteer or staff employee comes around to collect and make room for more food.

Christy Frazier, a parent of a Hood student, captures a photo as flower petals from the trees on campus swirl about in the wind after the Crab Feast on Friday, April 26. She thoroughly enjoyed eating as much as possible and walking about the campus on such a beautiful day.
