Munich Massacre, Kurt Strumph, 1972. This photo captures the moment when eight members of the Palestinian terrorist group invaded the 1972 Olympics. It lasted for 21 hours, 2 team members were killed, and 9 people were taken hostage. This is a powerful photo because the hostage situation was viewed on live television with over 900 million people watching and this memeber was terrified under the mask. This also opened viewers eyes to see that this kind of situation could happen anywhere at anytime and everyone should be prepared for the unexpected.
